About Konakondla: It is an ancient Jain pilgrimage centre, located 6 Km. Sounth of Guntakal railway station. The Jambu Dweepachakram – a relic of Jain culture and a jewel in the crown of Anantapuram district – is carved on a large rock here, but it remained undiscovered for a long time. Sri R.V. Chakravarti, who worked as a headmaster here in 1966, recognised the wheel (chakram) as Jambu Dweepachakram for the first time and gave it international publicity. There is a reference to it in the book ‘Jain Cosmology penned by Kolitti Kailat, who works in New Soobonne Univesity. Konakondla village lies enveloped by glorious Nature amidst Cumbum Narasimhaswamy konds. Rasa Siddula gutta and Karibasappa Gutta. The figure of Konda Kundachartya, poised on a lotus. is sculpted on a rock behind Tirthankaralayam, lying atop Rasasidhula gutta. Nearly one can find the Jambu dweepa chakram, sculpted in a curcular form, on another rock. The life of Konda Kundacharya forms an important phase in the history of Jain religion of the south. Konakonda is identified by the people as Kondakunda Konda Kundacharya was also known as Yelacharya. historieans had confirmed that “Tirukkural”, considered as sacred scripture as Vedas by the Tamilians, was written by Konda Kundacharya. it is also believed that the tradition of initiating the kids into education with writing and chanting “Oum Namah Sivaya, Sidham Namah” was conveived by that Acharya alone. They say that he lived for 85 years and passed asay in 44 A.D.Shri Kunda kundacharya was a great Jain Acharya in Digambara tradition, about 2000 years ago. ,
Kundakunda succeeded to the pontificate seat in Vikrama Samvat 49 (8 B.C.) at the age of 33. He lived as the pontiff of the mula sangha up to 52 years and passed away in 44 A.D. when he was 85 years of old. ] at Konda Kund of Andhra Pradesh, South India. He became the Digambara Jain monk (Muni) at the age of 11 and Acharya at the age of 44.
Kundakunda haddevised a format for South Indian dialects with common letters of reading and writing. It was subsequently made popular by another Jain saint Kumudendu. As stated earlier, Kundakunda was Vattkera, whose name is possibly remembered even today in the south for archaic script known as under the name Vatte (kerae) luttu.
It was Kundakunda who established the devotional prayer of ‘Panchaparamestins prayer, a daily ritual recitation of invoking Arthats Siddhas, Ayyas, Uvajjhas, and Sahus compulsory in the Jain dharma.
It is generally attributed that Kundakunda instituted Om Namassivaya siddham namah, during the aksarabhyas, the intiation learning. This practice has its Jain origins especially in Andhra Pradesh.
Through his writings, Kundakunda has made it clear that he had full knowledge of atamatatva or atmavidya - the knowledge of the soul and advocated the path of vitaraga, non-vitaraga, non-attachment, either for good or bad. One should develop a state of mind through - ‘sravanasakti, strength from austeric practices that lead one to enlightenment.
At a time when Christ had just appeared in the near east horizon, Andhra Pradesh had already Kundakunda, the brightest literary luminary. Although he played an active role in transferring the hither to oral teachings, into a well documented Sarasvat movement, he was a flood of, Santirasapravaha ‘peace and tranquillity’ as found in some inscription. He demonstrated that the Jain precepts of austeric life, ahimsa, aparigrapha and anekanta have for reaching importance in removing the karmie entanglements of the ‘soul’ that lead to enlightenment. it is also believed that the tradition of initiating the kids into education with writing and chanting “Oum Namah Sivaya, Sidham Namah” was conveived by that Acharya alone. They say that he lived for 85 years and passed asay in 44 A.D.

It would appear that the “Bharat Varsheeya Digambara Kshetra Committe” of Mumbai has resolved to transform Konakondla into a to into a tourist centre of intenational importance.
Professor Hoernle says that he has not been able to of Thiruppappuliyur or modern Cuddalore (Reports on the identify Bhadlpur. It is no other than pataliputra or Pataliputra which is the old name Archeological Survey of India,Vol.1906-07-Article on the Pallavas by V.Venkayya). Venkayya suggest that it is not the above place and identifies and remains. This is only a matter of detail. But still the reason given by V.venkayya is not quite sound. The fact that pathiripuliyar is mentioned in Devram as sacred to God Siva will not conflict with its being also the center of the Jainas.
Now this Bhadalpur or Pataliputra is associated with our author Sri Kunkunda as we shall show later on. kundakundar ponnur vedio click here

. Kundakundacharya was a leading light even in Tamil literature. His tradition is attributed to Tirukkural, a work which was given to Tiruvalluver who introduced it to the Sangam proceedings at Madurai. He had devised a format for South Indian dialects with common letters of reading and writing. It was subsequently made popular by another Jain saint Kumudendu. As stated earlier, Kundakunda was Vattkera, whose name is possibly remembered even today in the south for archaic script known as under the name Vatte (kerae) luttu.

The puranic literature consists both of big and small epics.
Prathamanuyoga speaks of Puranas of 24 Tirthankaras, 12 Chakravartins, 9 Bala
Bhadras, 9 Narayanas, 9 Prati Narayanas and they constitute the Trisasti
Salakapurushas It also gives the account of the families of Jinas, Vidyadharas,
Cakravarthins, Charanas, Kings etc.
Yativrsabhas, Tailoyapannati, and works of Jayadeva show that their
varna and mantra vrttas have a bearing on the present day mathematical
treatment of permutations and combinations, binomial theorem and co-efficients
etc. Suryapranjapti, a Jain work on astronomy, gives practical approach in
estimating a small unit of time measuring its shadow lenths known as ‘samayas’. Another work Panchastikaya of Kundakunda identifies samaya as the
minutest movement of light as paramanu prachalanayatah. This forms the basis
for the present day theories: the ‘seattering of light’ and the ‘Raman effect’.
In this context, it has to be stated that Kundakunda was a versatile genius and
a celebrated literary figure, who lived between the closing years and the first
half of the Christian period.
According to epigraphical records his name is Kundakunda. Devasena (10th
cent A.D.) and Jayasena (12th cent.) refer him as ‘Padmanandi’. In the later
works, he is known as vattekera, grudhapichha and Elacharya.Kundadri is a hill (826 mt) with dense forests in the Western Ghats located in Shimoga District Karnataka State, India. It is 70 km from Udupi city. This hill is known for 17th century Jain temple dedicated to thirthankara and the place is known to have given shelter to Acharya Kundakunda during earlier centuries. The main deity of this temple is Parshwanatha, 23rd tirthankar. Two small ponds formed by the rock on one side of this temple provided water to earlier sages. Government of Karnataka joined hands with a philanthropist from Mumbai[1] to construct an all-weather road to the top of the hill.[2

A great organizer of the highly
complex concepts of Jain philosophy, Kunda-kunda wrote five renowned books:
Samayasär (Treatise on the True Self) Pravachanasär (Treatise of Preaching)
Niyamasär (Treatise on Rules of Conduct) Panchästikäya (Treatise on Five
Universal Substances) Ashta-pähuda (Eight Steps), a collection of eight texts All of his works are
written in an ancient dialect known as Saurseni Präkrit, similar to
Ardha-Mägadhi Präkrit. The organizing of Jain ideas into certain relationships
and structures, taken for granted in recent centuries, was a product of his
thought. So extraordinary was this idea that many other books written in this
style by his pupils and other Jain scholars are popularly ascribed to him. In
the Digambar tradition, he is praised immediately after Lord Mahävir and the
preceptor Gautam swämi in the auspicious blessing (Mangalächaran) prayer. Some
Jains of the Digambar tradition dub their tradition Kunda-kunda Anvaya (the
order of Kunda-kunda). However, scholars of all sects study his books with deep
veneration.
Ächärya Kunda-kunda has
been called “Light of this Dark Age”. Several commentaries on his Samayasär
have been written in Sanskrit and in modern languages. In recent centuries, the
Samayasär has greatly moved leaders and scholars like Banärasi Däs, Taran
swämi, Shrimad Räjchandra and Gurudev Shri Kanji Swämi. Today, in the southern
state of Tamilnadu in India, on a large stone under a certain Champä tree on the
hill Ponnur Malai, pilgrims may stumble upon an engraved pair of
